VW World Cup welcome
June 14th, 2010 by Richard Aucock
VOLKSWAGEN has helped 6000 South African car production staff mark the arrival of the World Cup.
4 special roadshows have helped get workers at the Uitenhage plant get in the mood.
They also won’t miss a minute of football action, because VW has installed big TVs in the production plant. The staff have also been given South African National Team t-shirts.
Yes, they have also been gifted 7000 of the dreaded vuvuzelas, too.
The 650-a-day capacity of the plant was unaffected by all the celebrations, though. They were carried out in the workers’ lunch break.
Volkswagen of South Africa is, to date, the largest German investment in sub-Saharan Africa.
Are you helping your team get in the World Cup spirit – or do you see it as a barrier to productivity that should be discouraged?
