World Cup for Merc
June 18th, 2010 by Richard Aucock
MERCEDES-BENZ World is hosting a series of special World Cup football matches – using smart fortwos!
The flagship Mercedes UK car dealer will host the 8-car ‘matches’ on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the World Cup.
4 smarts will be finished in England colours, with the other 4 boasting ‘rest of world’ colours. Two 5-minute halves will be held in each game, along with a penalty shoot-out (yes, really).
Andrew Mallery, commercial operations director, Mercedes-Benz Cars, said: ‘As the World Cup kicks off, we want to show our support for England and do something extra special for our visitors.
‘Live commentary will keep supporters on top of all the action as the two teams of smart cars dribble and shoot a giant sized football into the goal.’
The first game kicks off at 12.30pm this Saturday at the Brooklands site. Of course, there is no connection to a previous car footy stunt Toyota did with Aygos…
