Volvo aftersales boost

July 22nd, 2009 by Richard Aucock

volvo-gives-aftersales-a-boostVOLVO D5 turbodiesel owners can now buy more performance without an economy penalty from Volvo car dealers.

The Swedish maker has launched an aftermarket performance upgrade pack for the 185PS 2.4-litre D5 motor, featured in many V70, XC70, S80 and XC90 models.

This takes power up to 205PS, and reduces the 0-60mph time by half a second. The performance gains come without a fuel economy penalty, too.

The kit, which has been developed by Volvo’s Touring Car race team Polestar, costs £650 including VAT, and enjoys a full Volvo UK warranty.

‘During the work to evolving our racing engines, we have developed the engine control system to achieve maximum power’ said race team MD Christian Dahl.

‘We realised early on that we could offer this to all Volvo owners, and Volvo quickly showed an interest.’

A pretty smart way for Volvo dealers to extract profits from a large parc of cars, we think…
