Vauxhall’s green Zafira
March 17th, 2009 by Richard Aucock
COMPANY car drivers can now buy a tax-saving new Vauxhall Zafira model, with a lowest-possible BIK tax rate.
Vauxhall has introduced the 110PS 1.7-litre CDTi engine to the range, which cuts CO2 emissions to 139g/km.
This makes it the most fuel-efficient seven-seat compact people carrier on the market.
The new Zafira has an 18 per cent BIK tax rating, which may lead to significant sales for companies and drivers hit by the recession.
Fuel bills will also be cut, as it averages 53.3mpg. This is a big improvement on the next most economical Zafira, which averages 47.1mpg.
The new engine introduces Vauxhall’s Ecoflex branding to the seven-seat people carrier line-up, with prices starting at £17,310 for the Exclusiv variant.
Interestingly, this represents a £100 premium over the 1.9-litre CDTi 120. Vauxhall will be hoping the efficiency gains of the less powerful engine win customers over.
Dealers will have a useful incentive to use, though – like all current Zafiras, it comes with 0 percent finance for up to four years, and offer that also gives retail customers a cheque equal to five percent of the financed total.
A slightly complicated deal, but tempting nonetheless, we’re sure…
