Vauxhall ups prices
August 3rd, 2009 by Richard Aucock
VAUXHALL has today released an updated price list, showing big increases for some key models.
Last week, the maker hit back at a Which? Car report, which accused car makers of raising list prices due to the scrappage scheme.
Vauxhall stated that it increased prices on 3 February, predating the launch of the scrappage scheme.
Bill Parfitt, GM UK MD, said that ’the only reasons we have raised prices are a severe weakening of the Pound versus the Euro, and a sharp increase in the cost of raw materials, such as steel.’
Now, it seems, those raw material increases have borne fruit… Vauxhall has released a new price list for 3 August, with some big increases for key models in the rnage.
Initial evidence of the price increases include:
• Corsa – around £250-£350
• Astra – around £400-£500
• Insignia – around £450-£600
Car Dealer Magazine is analysing the prices right now, and will bring you news of any big changes. We will also contact both Vauxhall and Which?, to hear of any reasoning behind the price increases.
As Parfitt stated, despite Which? Cars’ claims, ‘we have made no moves whatsoever to compensate for the £1000 contribution we make to the programme.’
