Unprecedented demand…

SCRAP initiatives mean some car dealers are the ‘busiest in living memory’, comes word from the shop floor.
So much so, many Hyundai car dealers are extending their working hours!
It’s the only way, says the firm, that the additional work in processing orders can be completed.
Tony Whitehorn, Hyundai UK MD, said: ‘Scrappage has given an opportunity for 10 million drivers to upgrade their old car to a cleaner, safer and more reliable new car.
‘Thousands of them are grabbing the opportunity.’
The Tilbury import centre is busy too, and will process a record number of cars in May. These have been diverted from factories around the world.
This is where European scrap scheme experience is paying off, says Whitehorn.
‘Scrappage schemes have been running in Europe for a few months now, and we used our experiences there to make sure we were prepared for the sales boom in the UK.
‘What came as a surprise, though, is that demand from non-scrappage buyers has also more than doubled in the past 2 weeks…’
Proof that the much-publicised scheme is doing its job by getting ALL buyers into showrooms?
