UK first for 500 C
March 27th, 2009 by Richard Aucock
FIAT has taken the bold step of launching the 500 C open-top model in the UK BEFORE any other country!
UK Fiat car dealers will even get the funky new motor before Fiat’s home dealers in Italy – something that’s virtually unpredecented!
It is both reward for Fiat dealers’ improving performance, and also the UK market’s addition to all things open top.
Prices start at £11,300 for the new Fiat 500 C, which goes on sale in the summer.
This is significantly below many rival open-top models, although it is important to note the Fiat is not quite a ‘full’ convertible. It’s still true to the car’s heritage though, counters Fiat.
‘The sophisticated new 500 C is a faithful yet thoroughly modern ‘take’ on the rich heritage of our sought-after 500, which highlights its strong, attractive personality,’ said marketing director Elena Bernardelli.
It will be launched in Pop and Lounge trim, with a choice of 11 colours. Hoods are offered in red, ivory or black finish, with similarly bold interior colourschemes available.
Fiat dealers will be hoping many buyers option up to full leather, which is available on Lounge models.
Impressiveluy, standard equipment on all new Fiat 500 C models includes air con, electric roof, remote locking, seven airbags and MP3 CD player.
Engines are the same as the 500 hatch – 1.2, 1.4 or 1.3 MJet diesel. The company’s stop-start system will also arrive in time.
Full prices for the Fiat 500 C range are thus:
• 1.2 Pop: £11,300
• 1.4 Pop: £12,500
• 1.3 Mjet Pop: £12,700
• 1.2 Lounge: £12,700
• 1.4 Lounge: £13,900
• 1.3 Mjet Lounge: £14,100
