Toyota swappage deal
January 15th, 2010 by Richard Aucock
SWAPPAGE is taking over scrappage at Toyota car dealers as the Government supported scheme comes to an end.
It means Toyota car buyers can STILL get a £2000 saving on the price of eligible new Toyotas!
What’s more, it’s even better than scrappage, says Toyota. Cars aged between 7 and 10 years old are eligible – W-plate motors to 52-plate cars.
Richard Balshaw, Toyota sales director, said ‘with Swappage we are committed to giving even more people the chance to acquire a new Toyota at a genuine bargain price.’ It’s developed the new scheme purely because of the positive feedback for scrappage from customers.
How can Toyota car dealers do it? Partly through the cars not having to be scrapped. The more retailable motors will draw a certain return from part-exchange, ensuring Toyota’s hit isn’t too excessive.
Yaris, Auris and Avensis models are eligible for the scheme. Indeed, Toyota’s actually making this even more tempting on the Auris, with extra offers of up to an additional £750.
The chief proviso is that the traded-in cars have tax, insurance and a current MOT.
Toyota is also ensuring customers don’t abuse the system, by insuring the car buyer has also been the registered keeper of the swapper for at least a year.
What do you think of Toyota’s Swappage scheme? Do you expect other makers to do something similar?
