Toyota plans recall aid
January 29th, 2010 by Richard Aucock
TOYOTA is planning a series of marketing communications to help car dealers in the big recall crisis.
All relevant channels will be used to help restore the brand’s reputation for quality as the recall stretches worldwide.
Industry title Marketing says recalls could top 2 million in Europe alone, and that shares have fallen by over 15 percent in the past week. Markets have responded badly which is forcing Toyota to consider action.
However, little is scheduled to happen at the moment.
Frustratingly for car dealers fielding questions from customers, Toyota has currently only confirmed the issue is ‘under investigation’, and the brand has been unable to name the exact models that will be affected. This means, in the meantime, Toyota currently has no formal marketing plans in place.
According to the title, though, Toyota will use digital channels for communications until the internal investigation is concluded.
If you are a Toyota car dealer, what have you been told about the big recall issue?
