TOKYO: Matt Lotus

LOTUS is one of the few non-Japanese makers here at Tokyo, and is proudly upholding British honour.
The Exige S Scura special edition is a matt-black and carbon fibre model that looks incredible.
A strictly limited edition, just 35 of the £45k coupes are to be sold – all with special trim and swathes of real carbon fibre that cuts 10kg off the kerbweight.
The exterior is set off by triple black stripes along the side, contrasting with the paint that’s just adorably soft and velvety to the touch. It really is amazing.
It tips the scales at just 925kg. That’s why its 260hp supercharged engine will take it, with Launch Control, to 60mph in 4.1 seconds.
Why is Lotus here, though? Well, there’s a great love for the British brand in Japan, and buyers really do support the firm’s car dealers well.
A little local content helps here. After all, Lotus has, for years, been using modified Toyota engines in its models…
