SsangYong UK growth
June 12th, 2009 by Richard Aucock
SSANGYONG has reported its second successive month of sales growth, following strong demand.
A 42 percent year-on-year increase was revealed by the latest SMMT sales figures.
This is despite ongoing concerns over the company’s future in South Korean courts – clearly, the latest upturn in fortunes has encouraged UK car buyers.
It’s not even scrappage that’s down to this sales boost either, says the brand. The £2k incentive has yet to translate into sales; SsangYong’s Ian Nicholson said the five year warranty/five years’ free servicing offer was the real reason for an increase in demand.
‘To show any kind of increase in today’s market is something of an achievement, and we are very pleased that we are making progress.
‘Our dealers now need to build on this, and we will be helping them do that over the course of the summer.’
SsangYong is one of only eight car makers to record a sales increase in May… and the maker will be rolling out the initiatives to assist car dealers in continuing this steady growth towards success.
