SEPTEMBER 2009 new car sales took the year-to-date total up to 1,517,039, with Ford’s Fiesta topping the chart.
The figures are still 15 percent behind last year’s numbers, but the decline is far lower than many feared.
At this point last year, 1,794,419 new cars had been sold. In 2009, it is the decline in fleet sales that have hit totals – private sales of 754,188 are down a meagre 1.9 percent on last year.
Fleet sales are down over 25 percent, and business sales have declined almost 30 percent.
Here, Car Dealer Magazine can reveal which cars sold best in the key 59-plate registration month.
