SEAT’s most powerful car
August 18th, 2009 by Richard Aucock
SEAT will unveil an ultra-hot-hatch version of the Leon Cupra R at the Frankfurt Motor Show – punching out 265hp
The tuned 2.0-litre TSI motor sees it yelp to 62mph in 6.2 seconds.
Yet it can still average nearly 35mpg; not bad for the firms ‘most powerful car ever’.
So powerful, indeed, it matches the poke of SEAT’s World Touring Car racer!
Helping this power onto the road is an electronic limited-slip differential for the front-wheel-drive motor. It’s also jam-packed with standard equipment, befitting of its range-topping status.
And it’s not just the garish green launch colour that will differentiate it on the market.
R logos grace both outside and in, while there are not only 19-inch wheels, but 17-inch front brake discs behind them…
The instruments are lit by white LEDs, there are aluminium pedals, trim fully finished in black and a monstrous set of hip-hugging bucket seats.
All of which means Car Dealer Magazine may have a new contender to its current hot hatch darling, the bonkers Ford Focus RS. We can’t wait to get behind its R-logo’d wheel!
