Scrappage will help indys

SMALLER independent car dealers are to see longer term business benefits from the scrappage scheme.
The RMI’s Independent Garage Association division said the priority now should be on ensuring they are equipped to capitalise on this.
Jonas Zambakides, IGA Chairman explained how. It’s all about ‘access to technical information.
‘The revitalisation of the new car sector via scrappage means that there are now more new cars on the roads, and this has focused the need for technical information and the facility to re-commission vehicles.
‘We must focus all our efforts on seeking delivery of this crucial element for the independents.’
It’s an issue that’s going straight to the heart of the EU. ‘Access will be decided in Europe, so we will be continuing our support for the independent Garages in Brussels.’
RMI director Colin Parlett supports this, and has offered the full help of the RMI in ensuring smaller car dealers’ needs are ‘robustly represented at all the relevant European Commission meetings on technical information.’
