Scrappage double boost
September 28th, 2009 by Richard Aucock
EXTENDING scrap is a great move – but there could be still more good news on the horizon, reckons one industry exec.
Finance and Leasing Association chief Paul Harrison said the scrappage decision is to be welcomed.
But, he added, the Government is also in talks with the EU over in Brussels RIGHT NOW, on additional support for the motor finance sector.
‘We need Lord Mandelson to get a good result there, so that demand for new cars can continue to be met in the future when the economy recovers,’ he said.
This suggests that yet more industry aid could be on the cards to help car dealers cope once the scrappage funds do run out.
But in what form could this ‘new’ aid take? What would you as car dealers like to see the Government propose to help the further sustainability of the industry? Do let us know!
