Scrap success for Swedes
June 22nd, 2009 by Richard Aucock
VOLVO is the latest UK car dealer franchise to report sales success under the scrappage scheme.
The Swedish brand, in the first month of the scrappage scheme, sold 1234 cars.
55 percent of these were the Volvo C30 sporty coupe – that’s 679 cars. And most of these were the 72mpg DRIVe variant.
Indeed, Volvo’s other DRIVe cars are also enjoying much success under the scrappage scheme.
But, like many other car makers, demand is not restricted to a limited number of cars.
EVERY model in the Volvo range has been sold under scrappage.
Nick Connor, sales director at Volvo Car UK, said: ‘We have been experiencing an upsurge in enquires and sales on all models in the Volvo range, with the C30 performing particularly strongly, as customers take advantage of the offers we are running in conjunction with the scrappage scheme.
‘The scheme has been a much welcome boost to our sales, as well as to the industry as a whole, and we are working hard for this success to continue.’
As for scrap trade-ins, more than a third have been older Volvos.
But Connor also reports that a Morris Marina has been taken in part exchange, too…
