Scrap scheme’s surge
April 24th, 2009 by Richard Aucock
AUTO Trader says that the day after the scrap scheme was announced, it saw a 113% surge in visitors!
It has also registered a 74 percent increase in new car searches.
This comes as its own research suggests a third of all motorists reckon they’ll be encouraged to buy because of the scheme.
Matt Thompson, marketing director at autotrader.co.uk, said: ‘The fact that our new car homepage visitors increased by over 100 percent on the day the new vehicle scrappage incentive scheme was introduced highlights the appetite amongst motorists for this.
‘We welcome the Government’s Scrappage Scheme as a good start,’ he continued, echoing the earlier message of support from Auto Trader to car dealers.
Auto Trader will do its bit, and ‘would welcome working with the manufacturers, car dealers, SMMT and RMIF to communicate these great deals better to motorists.’
More evidence that the new car scrap scheme is having the desired effect?
