VOLKSWAGEN has unveiled a dramatic race car-inspired Scirocco concept car, at the Bologna Motor Show.
The Scirocco Studie R features huge front air intakes and a lift-reducing front splitter. At the rear, there is a large wing and a new bumper with incorporated downforce-generating diffuser.
Finished in white, with high-gloss black detailing and ‘Italian’ red and green door mirrors, the Studie R is inspired by the Scirocco GT24. This model won its class in the Nurburgring 24-hour race earlier in the year.
Polished 19-inch wheels house four-piston brakes and ‘racing derived’ sports suspension. The 2.0-litre TSI turbo engine has been tuned to produce 270bhp.
Inside, carbonfibre trim features heavily. There are also Recaro seats finished in Nappa leather, and ‘Italian inspired’ green accents throughout.
Are you thinking what we’re thinking? That the changes sound not beyond the realms of production-readiness?
Don’t be surprised, we’d say, to see a Scirocco ‘R’ model looking just like this one hit dealer showrooms before long.
