CAR DEALER can reveal new car sales are likely to be up 5.5% in August - with retail registrations up 50%!
An industry insider has given Car Dealer Magazine an early look at the retail car registration figures, which are set to be officially released on Friday by the SMMT.
Our source said total new car sales are likely to be up 5.5 percent, following the first rise for 15 months of 2.7 per cent in July.
The figures come as 59-plate September new car registrations prepare to leave car dealer showrooms this weekend.
The figures were taken by our man before the end-of-month cut-off point, but they are not expected to change greatly.
Vauxhall are believed to be one of the biggest losers with sales likely to be down 37 per cent. Renault, Volvo, Daihatsu, Chevrolet and MINI are also likely to show sharp declines.
This early heads-up makes the release by the SMMT official figures on Thursday all the more interesting. We’ll bring you official news and reaction as soon as we get it.
