Saab-Koenigsegg?
June 13th, 2009 by Richard Aucock
SUPERCAR maker Koenigsegg is poised for an audacious buyout of fellow Swedish car manufacturer Saab.
The FT reports that the start of talks will be officially announced by current owners GM soon.
Koenigsegg and the top Norwegian investors backing it would fund the deal. It would see the company rapidly step up from niche hypercar manufacturer, to premium mass market production.
The FT reports the latest developments come after a series of discussions this week at GM’s Zurich headquarters.
Koenigsegg was deemed to have presented the best case, with the highest prospects of viability.
It would certainly be a sensational new development in the car world – could we be one step closer to getting the world’s first Saab supercar?
