New Rolls-Royce to be called ‘Ghost’
April 20th, 2009 by Richard Aucock
ROLLS-ROYCE has just announced that the new ‘baby Rolls’ will be called the Ghost when it goes on sale in ’09.
Production of the new Rolls-Royce will start at the company’s Goodwood factory later in the year.
The car, derived from BMW’s latest 7 Series, will pack a 500bhp 6.6-litre V12 petrol engine, and will lower the entry level price point of Rolls-Royce motoring for car dealers.
Rolls-Royce hopes for a big increase in sales volumes thanks to the new model, which will compete with the Bentley Flying Spur, the Mercedes S-Class and the forthcoming Porsche Panamera.
Rolls-Royce CEO, Tom Purves, said: ‘Ghost… is one of the most revered names in the automotive industry, evoking images of adventure and technical innovation.
‘This car will be the first in a new generation of models to carry this evocative name and will give us two pinnacle product lines – Phantom and Ghost.’
More details will, we’re sure, follow in time…
