RMIF writes to Mandelson
June 2nd, 2009 by Richard Aucock
RMIF chairman Paul Williams has written an open letter to business secretary Lord Mandelson.
In it, he asks for assurances on the future of Vauxhall’s 500-strong UK car dealer network.
Williams calls on Mandelson not to forget the network in ongoing discussions over the maker’s future.
This is because Vauxhall car dealers directly employ a staggering 25,000 people – five times the UK production workforce of Vauxhall.
To Car Dealer Magazine, it suggests a desired emphasis to split discussions over Vauxhall’s production future in the UK, and the continued existence of the brand itself.
Vauxhall is the UK’s second best-selling car brand. Clear discussions need to be conducted to secure this – and they include pointing out the size of the giant UK car dealer network.
Car Dealer Magazine continues to follow the story closely…
