Renault welcomes PBR
December 10th, 2009 by Richard Aucock
RENAULT says the exemption of electric cars from 5 years’ company car tax from next April is ‘welcome.’
The company also hailed the fact that electric vans get a van benefit charge exemption over the same period, ‘plus a 100 per cent first year allowance towards the purchase.’
Renault UK MD Roland Bouchara was, indeed, delighted. ‘This is excellent news will undoubtedly assist in encouraging the British public and business community to adopt zero-emission (ZE) transport.’
Renault, of course, will soon itself be selling fully-electric cars.
‘We’re convinced that our exciting ‘Z.E.’ range, which is just 18 months away, will capture everyone’s imagination, so this latest financial incentive adds even greater weight to the case for electric transport, alongside its obvious environmental and running cost benefits.’
What’s more, he added, the deals revealed today could help incentivised the development of a national electric car recharging infrastructure, too.
Just the thing to help car makers wean themselves off scrappage?
