Porsche Panamera debuts
April 22nd, 2009 by Richard Aucock
PORSCHE’S four-door Panamera has been officially unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show in China.
The big GT four-seat Porsche goes on sale on September 12, initially in powerful V8 variants.
Porsche says that a cheaper V6 will arrive in 2010 – as well as a (relatively) ‘green’ hybrid version.
A lower entry price may be important in time… Porsche says that order books are open now – with a starting point of £72,266.
This buys a 400bhp 5.0-litre V8 Panamera S.
There is also a Panamera 4S, for £77,269, and a mad 500bhp 5.0-litre V8 Panamera Turbo, costing £95,298.
Porsche exec Klaus Berning admits that, in introducing the 5-metre-long Panamera, ‘we are entering a market segment completely new for our customers, and we are once again consistently expanding our model portfolio.’
