Peugeot’s posh plans

January 14th, 2010 by Richard Aucock

peugeot-plans-posh-spice-upPEUGEOT intents to become a more premium car maker with a bold new development plan for 2015.

By then, the maker aims to have ‘moved up 3 places in the world car market’.

This will see it rank 7th in the ‘World Car Market’ listings, instead of the 10th place it currently holds.

How will it do this? Well, it’s already shown off a new version of the Lion badge. But the firm says it will introduce stylish new models and follow a different strategy for developing them.

14 new models will introduced worldwide – and they’re all promised within the next TWO years.

Examples of these include a production version of the BB1 electric 4-seat car, a 2.5m-long model that Peugeot recently took on a worldwide tour. This will ‘shake up the rules of motor vehicle design’

The SR1 concept car also produced further proof of how Peugeot’s styling will develop in the future.

Peugeot stressed its global intent in plans for new models, providing a ‘full mobility solution’ that include cars, vans, scooters, bicycles and other support vehicles.

We will see plenty more of these plans at Geneva in March, says the 200 year old French maker.

In the meantime, what’s your opinion on Peugeot’s bold statement of intent?
