Gallery: Peugeot RCZ ‘TT’
August 17th, 2009 by Richard Aucock
PEUGEOT has released definitive images of the production RCZ – maybe its most dramatic car ever!
The racy coupe is so groundbreaking for Peugeot, it’s even dispensed with the numbered naming convention: the RCZ concept car name will make it to production.
What’s more, it will be in UK Peugeot car dealers from spring 2010!
Impressively, Peugeot has carried through the concept’s double-bubble roof, which conceals a 2+2 cabin layout. This gives it extremely dramatic lines, that the maker has ensured remain uncluttered by developing a pop-up rear spoiler.
Low volume production will be conducted at the Magna plant in Austria, on behalf of Peugeot. This will ensure supplies are limited: could it also thus be the lowest-depreciating Peugeot ever?
Mechanically, it draws from the 308, and will feature a range of 1.6-litre turbo petrol engines. The top motor will produce 200hp… yet the 2.0-litre turbodiesel variant will emit less than 140g/km of CO2.
Inside, there is special high-end detailing for the interior, which is expected to again draw from the 308. A similar chassis to the family hatchback has been honed with lower suspension, wider track and a lowered centre of gravity.
Both 18-inch and 19-inch alloys are offered.
Car dealers can look forward to even more profits from the RCZ, too. Peugeot has developed a bespoke range of pesonalisation features, including:
• Carbonfibre roof
• Roof arches in contrasting colours
• Special alloy wheel finishes
• Black lacquered front body parts
• Carbonfibre door mirror caps
• Bespoke body detailing
A special accessory brochure will be available before order… which Car Dealer hopes to see, along with the RCZ itself, at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
