Time 2:17 pm, December 8, 2008

new md for chevrolet ukCHEVROLET UK has appointed Mark Terry to the position of managing director – replacing Rory Harvey.

Harvey moves to head up GM UK & Ireland’s aftersales division. This comes after seeing a year-to-September sales increase of 6.5 per cent.

Terry joins from Saab GB. The former operations director has worked for Saab since 1987. He’s also been national sales manager, after a career in regional sales.

He is positive for the future of GM’s UK value brand. ‘Chevrolet is rightly placed to take advantage of the current economic challenges.’ His first major launch is the Cruze compact car, arriving in the UK during the 1st half of 2009.

Following this, another new Chevrolet will be unveiled, which the brand says will ‘again be a global leader for GM in terms of its architecture.’ Whether this is a new Beat concept-influenced small car, or the production plug-in hybrid Volt, remains to be seen.

‘Chevrolet is a core GM brand, and to be part of a successful growth phase is an exciting prospect.

‘From a brand point of view, there is nothing better than Chevrolet to meet the demands of modern social and automotive developments, and our product expansion over the coming years will prove this.

‘My ambition is to establish Chevrolet not just as the car of choice in the value sector, but for a multitude of customers in many key segments, such as MPV, SUV, youth, and family.’
