Mazda UK Ltd’s sales director, Jeremy Thomson, has just been promoted to MD of the company.

He replaces previous incumbent Rob Lindley, who has moved over to head up sales at McLaren Automotive.

Thomson has been with the company since it was formed in 2001. He joined as fleet director, moving up via marketing director to become, for the past three years, sales director.

The move to Mazda came after a long period at Ford. He joined the blue oval in 1989, performing various sales, marketing and service roles.

‘I am delighted to announce the appointment of Jeremy Thomson to the position of Managing Director, Mazda Motors UK Ltd,’ said another familiar face to UK Mazda dealers, Philip Waring – now VP for sales at Mazda Motor Europe.

‘Like his predecessors, Jeremy joined Mazda UK at its formation as a National Sales Company in 2001 and brings to the MD role a wealth of experience gained in both the fleet and marketing areas, as well as his current role as sales director.

‘I am confident that Jeremy will guide the company through the tough economic climate which we face today, to ensure that both Mazda and its dealer organisation are well positioned for the future.’

Mazda has also announced that Mark Cameron is to take over Thomson’s old role as sales director in the UK.
