New Doblo uncovered
November 19th, 2009 by Richard Aucock
FIAT has unveiled the all-new Doblo, which will come to the UK from early next year in van and budget people carrier form.
What’s more, the new model is also going to be sold in the US – as a Ram!
It’s all part of the Fiat-Chrysler marriage, which will see the Dodge brand spin off its famous Ram truck arm. Fiat will rebadge 2 commercial models for sale in the UK, including the new Grande Punto-derived Doblo.
The longest wheelbase in the segment means the Citroen Berlingo and Renault Kangoo will be in for a challenge. Fiat is already claiming ample passenger space, while even seats up, the MPV version has a 790-litre boot.
A choice of 4 engines includes the 1.3-litre Multijet 90 which, adds Fiat, emits a class-lowest CO2 figure of 129g/km.
Stop-start is also standard, which will improve city centre fuel consumption for commercial drivers – boosting sales of the van version? Impressively, this also claims interior volume of up to 4.2 cubic metres, and a 1-tonne payload.
The 2-wheelbase, 7-bodystyle range will be launched in January 2010.
