Motorpoint LDV deal
June 12th, 2009 by Richard Aucock
MOTORPOINT has pledged to offer a free warranty to anyone who buys an LDV van from the company.
The promise comes after LDV was placed in administration – rendering all manufacturer warranties invalid.
It’s an offer that’s worth £349. But is not a new idea for Motorpoint.
It did the same back in 2005, when MG Rover went bust. Successfully so, too: it went on to sell over 2000 MG Rovers covered by the deal.
The one-year warranty is offered on any Motorpoint Maxus LDV van. It covers parts, labour and VAT on all mechanical and electrical faults. There are other associated benefits on top of this, too.
‘It is a tragedy that LDV has gone into administration,’ said Motorpoint MD David Shelton, ‘especially after all the effort that had gone into trying to save the company.
‘This has thrown the whole issue of the manufacturers warranty into question.
‘We have therefore decided to take the initiative, like we did with Rover, by offering a free one-year warranty to any customer that buys an LDV van from Motorpoint.’
