Codes joins with IMI

July 29th, 2010 by Richard Aucock

motor-codes-signs-up-another-copy1MOTOR Codes is now collaborating with the IMI in a move to further drive up the credibility of aftersales.

The two bodies aim to work together and maximise the advantage of strong support from the Government.

Work will now commence on combining the benefits of the Motor Codes standards with the IMI’s Automotive Technician Accreditation scheme. More than 6200 garages are Motor Codes approved, while more than 24,000 technicians and individuals boast ATA.

Combine the two and you have a comprehensive set of standards to really drive up the reputation of the service and repair sector.

‘Raising service and repair standards in every garage, in every town, in every region of the UK is our number one priority,’ said Motor Codes director Chris Mason.

‘We’re proud of having the highest level of support from government, consumer bodies and industry and we want to build on that by working with the IMI to promote the competence and skill of our service and repair technicians.’

Sarah Sillars OBE FIMI, executive chair of the IMI said: ‘The need for competent, ethical individuals and businesses has never been more crucial to the future success of our industry.

‘The IMI seeks to help employers and those working in the sector generate demonstrable improvements in productivity and performance through a better trained, qualified and recognised workforce not least through our successful ATA scheme.’

She summed up the potential of the new collaboration. ‘Both ATA and Motor Codes are clearly recognisable signs that provide consumer confidence in our industry and the IMI welcomes this new relationship with Motor Codes.’

Car Dealer Magazine looks forward to bringing you more news of how the two bodies are working together on future new initiatives.
