mg-to-launch-at-silverstone-copyMG Motors has confirmed that it will work closely with GM in the UK to help launch its cars in 2011.

Speaking in a special online chat with fans on Facebook, MG’s marketing director Guy Jones said the firm was planning on cooperating in the UK.

He said: ‘MG’s parent company SAIC already has a very successful joint venture in China with General Motors.

‘The two companies are increasing their involvement, which will include co-operation in the UK. Initially this means Vauxhall UK will help MG with introductions to dealer groups and dealer network planning but not selling MG directly from Vauxhall dealerships.

‘The development of this partnership is exciting news for both MG and the GM brands in Europe.’

Last week Reuters reported that GM was considering letting MG models be sold via UK dealerships. That now looks unlikely, however the fact the two firms will be working together closely is a very positive step for the brands relaunch next year.
