iPads for Merc dealers
June 3rd, 2010 by Richard Aucock
MERCEDES dealers in the US are being given iPads to use on the showroom floor in one of the first iPad business uses.
The iPads are to be used by Mercedes Benz Financial.
40 lucky American dealers are to carry out a trial process, with the rest following if it’s a success.
It will enable US Merc dealers to access the ‘MB Advantage’ point-of-sale dealer system, for calling up marketing programmes on specific cars fast.
They’ll also be able to run through the credit process, and even process returning lease vehicles.
‘We see the iPad providing wireless mobility, information and flexibility on the showroom floor,’ said Andreas Hinrichs, VP of marketing for Mercedes-Benz Financial.
‘The iPad will provide a competitive advantage to our dealers by increasing their service levels through a more flexible financing process.’
During this initial test run, Mercedes will refine the system, before hopefully rolling it out to all Mercedes dealerships later in the year.
The iPad integration complements the existing Mercedes-Benz financial iPhone App, which allows customers to make payments on their car lease. It’s had 13,000 downloads and taken 5000 payments worth $3.6m.
UK dealers will, we’re sure, watching developments in the US with interest… question is, does your car dealership already have plans in place to start using iPads?
