Mercedes warranty boost
January 13th, 2010 by Richard Aucock
MERCEDES reports that 40 percent of approved used customers are choosing a flexible pay-monthly deal.
This big uptake rate comes just 4 months after the new Mercedes Online Warranty was launched.
Car dealers are winning big as a consequence. The firm says that a high proportion of upsales are occurring to customers whose new car 3-year warranty is approaching expiry.
Even better, the conditions of the warranty state that online warranty customers must take their car to a Mercedes franchise dealer, or a Mercedes approved retailer, for maintenance.
The new degree of flexibility enables customers to either choose annual deals, or take up the pay-monthly option for the Mondial Assistance-operated scheme.
The launch has brought a clear boost to business for Mercedes Benz car dealers.
Phil Parry, sales development manager for Mercedes Benz UK, said ‘customers who were perhaps less inclined to take advantage of our annual warranty offering have responded really positively to the pay monthly option.
‘Managing finances is crucial for everyone at the moment and our warranty solution helps customers to do just that without them feeling burdened by a long term commitment.
‘What’s more, our retailers are benefiting from the relationships the scheme is building with our customers, without the actual task of having had to sell the service to them in the first place.
‘It’s a win win for us and our customers.’
