Marshall appoints franchise chiefsMARSHALL Motor Group is switching its focus to franchise opportunities, with a series of new management appointments.

This is to prepare the group for growth opportunities it says the recession will bring.

The group’s traditional regional-based structure is to be replaced by one orientated to franchises. Four franchise directors have therefore been appointed.

Adrian Lewis – former MD of The Car Shop
Chris Sheppard – former director at Camden Retail and Polar Motor Group
Mark Furniss – former finance director of Inchcape Fleet Solutions
Neal Owen – former COO at Summit Auto Group and divisional director, Lancaster PLC

‘All of these individuals have remarkable reputations in the industry,’ said Marshall head Daksh Gupta, who admits the company had been opportunistic.

‘The current trading environment means that, in the market, there are a significant number of highly experienced senior people with outstanding track records.’

Explaining the restructure, Gupta said relationship-building with brand partners was the aim.

‘Marshall has always viewed recession as an opportunity rather than a threat. The company is thus strengthening its senor management team, to build manufacturer relations and ready itself for the opportunities the recession will represent.

‘We greatly value our relationships with all of our manufacturers, and I am certain that these new appointments will further strengthen our bonds.

‘Companies which focus on operational excellence and providing outstanding customer service will flourish and become stronger.’
