March 2010 sales losers
MARCH 2010 has been a successful month for many brands but what about those that didn’t do so well?
Well, the top market share fall slots were dominated by beleaguered makers Corvette, Daihatsu and Hummer.
Indeed, Hummer barely exists at all, and Car Dealer Magazine was first to report the woes of Daihatsu here in the UK. Corvette has also been suffering, although we were also the first to report that better times may be ahead: Chevrolet dealers are to now sell Corvettes.
Daimler is in 4th – that’s the sleeping Jaguar Daimler, not Mercedes’ parent. First of the big brands, though, is Saab, with a scary 52 percent fall. That’s entirely due to the near-collapse, and on-off-on sales saga, of the premium Swedish brand.
Now its future is secured, dealers will be hoping for better times. As will Chrysler dealers, now it has tied up with Fiat.
Lexus, meanwhile, will be looking to a big fillip from the good-looking new CT-200h Audi A3 rival that arrives this year.
Check out the list of the big losers below: if you are a dealer of a brand listed there, let us know how the past year has been for you.
