Mandy meets Vauxhall

VAUXHALL representatives are holding a series of meetings with Lord Mandelson all this week.
The meetings are being conducted to discuss the future of Vauxhall, given the takeover of GM Europe by Magna International.
Local MPs and senior trade representatives are among those putting the case for car dealers to the business secretary.
Lord Mandelson will then take this knowledge to Germany, where he’ll meet with senior German government ministers.
His agenda does not stop there, either. He’s also going to be speaking with Magna people themselves, to find out what’s what.
‘The Government is continuing to do all it can to secure the future of production at the Luton and Ellesmere Port plants,’ said Lord Mandelson.
He pointed out the UK government’s work in setting up a long-term plan for GM Europe – one that includes UK plants in Ellesmere Port and Luton.
‘The UK Government is at the heart of the discussions on securing a commercial solution for GM Europe. I continue to fight for the best interests of all Vauxhall’s workforce in the UK.’
The discussions come after the RMIF wrote a letter to Lord Mandelson, appealing for Vauxhall car dealer support.
