Lexus to show ‘Audi A3′
August 17th, 2009 by Richard Aucock
LEXUS will show a concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show which points to a future Audi A3 compact hatch rival.
The three-door hatchback has been revealed in sketch form, prior to unveiling at the Motor Show next month.
Lexus says the new car is technically innovative; will this mean it becomes the first posh hybrid in this segment? After all, the latest Toyota Prius is now an extremely well-rounded base to draw a BMW rival from…
The concept indicates a three-door design, with a wrap-around rear tailgate that’s almost coupe-like. The extended roofline is also rather ‘junior shooting brake’.
But the forward-set position of the front door shut line suggests to Car Dealer Magazine that the model may actually have five doors, giving it wider market appeal.
We’ll know more at the Frankfurt Show next month… in the meantime, Lexus dealers, what do you think of the new car’s potential?
