Lexus issues recall
LEXUS is to recall 3238 GS and LS models, including hybrid versions, to fix what it describes as a rare engine issue.
It has been found the valve spring strength can degrade over time, leading to failure.
If it breaks, says Lexus, the engine will misfire and start to run roughly.
New valve springs are fitted during the recall – which will take Lexus dealers between 7 and 22 hours to complete, depending on model.
Which cars are affected? The GS 450h, GS 460, LS 460 and LS 600h. No other models, such as the hybrid RX, are affected.
VOSA is issuing the recall and owners will be given a replacement Lexus while their car is in for attention.
‘We apologise for any concern and inconvenience caused to our customers by this campaign,’ said Belinda Poole, Lexus director.
‘Lexus take quality issues extremely seriously and we are intensifying our efforts to ensure they are minimised.
‘As is the case with the valve springs, we will continue to take steps to ensure the quality of our customers’ ownership experience is safeguarded.’
