Land Rover sales 58% up
LAND Rover sales shot up 58 percent in January thanks to the bad weather driving off-roader sales.
The new Discovery 4 range actually performed even better by clocking up a 92 percent sales rise at car dealers!
‘Heavy snow and icy conditions last month meant car buyers were looking for a vehicle that provides them with the all-terrain capability to keep them on the roads,’ said Land Rover MD John Edwards.
This is why Range Rover Sport sales were up 66 percent, Freelander sales 57 percent and Range Rover orders up by a quarter.
The effects of the weather spread even further than just sales though, adds Edwards, with the whole of the Land Rover brand benefitting. ‘We had double the hits on the landrover.co.uk website in January than we had last year,’ he reveals.
Independent reviewers also recorded rises in Land Rover popularity. Whatcar.com found the Discovery 4 was its most popular review of all throughout January – and the fifth most read car review overall!
How have Land Rover dealers found the upturn in fortunes on the ground?

I love Rovers but I wouldn’t buy a new one. No offense but I can’t believe anyone is crazy enough to buy a new car right now in this economy. Considering that a healthy chunk of 2010 Cash 4 Clunkers cars have already been repossessed (i.e. repofinder.com) why not just go to local banks and credit unions and buy these repo cars back for half the retail price? If you’re going to buy junk at least don’t over pay.
