Kia shock used warranty!
March 24th, 2009 by Richard Aucock
KIA has startled the Car Dealer Magazine office, with quite possibly the used car warranty of the century!
Next month, used car buyers choosing an Approved Used Kia will get the warranty TOPPED UP to the same level as if they were buying from new.
This means that cars up to 18 months old will still get a full SEVEN YEAR warranty on cee’d models. Making it, in effect, an eight and a half year warranty!
You can see why jaws dropped on the news…
There are provisos – the cars can’t have covered more than 18,000 miles, and have to be Kia Approved Used cars. But, hey – that’s hardly a major hardship.
You can see why Kia is so excited, too. But how on earth is it doing it? Well, said Kia’s head of fleet and remarketing, Andrew Sellars, it’s all through confidence. ‘We have such faith in the quality of our products that we can now offer customers the best Approved used car programme on the market.
‘Just because you are buying second hand, doesn’t mean you have to be treated as second class. Why should used customers miss out on all the benefits that come with a new car?’
Fair point, but still a move that will get many an industry head shaking in amazement.
Yet, it’s what buyers are after. ‘This new Approved used car programme has come about as a result of listening to what Kia customers want.
‘Now, more than ever people are being careful with their money and want complete faith that any product they are buying, be it a phone or a car, will last.’
Will anyone follow Kia’s lead, we wonder?
