Hyundai’s boatloads
June 23rd, 2009 by Richard Aucock
HYUNDAI has just docked its latest boat of motors from Korea – and every single one is already sold!
The delivery of 1108 i10s is likely to be on UK roads within days, as customers line up to get behind the wheel.
This is all thanks to the scrappage scheme.
Hyundai has been one of the makers at the forefront of the initiative, determined to make the opportunity work in the best possible way.
Already, more than 11,300 orders for new Hyundais have been placed. And the maker is working 24/7 to ensure that all orders are delivered within the four-month timeframe stipulated by the Government.
Car dealers are among the key beneficiaries of this, says UK MD Tony Whitehorn. ‘It’s an incredible position for them,’ he said.
‘Customers are literally queuing up in front of salesmen’s desks – I’d never have thought I’d say that at the start of the year.
‘Our multi-franchise dealers are even having to reapportion staff within the group, just to cope with the demand at Hyundai.’
