Hyundai sites ‘unaffected’

Time 9:48 pm, February 22, 2012

HYUNDAI has confirmed its dealerships operated by Sewards are not affected by yesterday’s administration.

Sewards (Wessex) Ltd – which holds the group’s Vauxhall and Chevrolet franchises – was placed in administration on Tuesday.

It was unclear whether the group’s Hyundai franchises in Salisbury and Christchurch were also affected. However, the manufacturer has now confirmed to Car Dealer that its sites are unaffected.

That’s because they are held by sister company Sewards (Dorset) Ltd, which is unaffected by the administration and will continue to trade as normal.

‘The complications arise at Christchurch where our Hyundai franchise is shared with Vauxhall,’ said a Hyundai spokeswoman.

‘We are talking to administrators about the premises and working out a way we can continue to operate from there. Our second site at Salisbury is only Hyundai and is open and trading as normal.’
