Hyundai beats Ford
February 4th, 2010 by Richard Aucock
FORD may be top new car seller in the UK but it holds 2nd place to Hyundai in the scrappage league.
To date, Hyundai has sold 36,647 new cars under the scrap scheme.
This compares with Ford’s 35,564 total – and the two brands are way ahead of the 3rd-placed manufacturer, Toyota. The Japanese firm has sold 24,992 cars under scrappage.
Car Dealer Magazine has uploaded the full chart for you to scour below – it makes fascinating reading!
Can you believe, for example, that Porsche has sold 31 cars under scrappage? And SsangYong has sold just 2 scrappage cars in total? Indeed, the Korean brand hasn’t recorded a scrappage sale in over 3 months!
It’s not just the mass market brands that are selling under scrappage, either. Audi has sold 3461 scrap scheme cars, BMW has sold 3229 and Mercedes has registered 1627.
Lexus, on the other hand, has sold just 76.
