Hendy’s Honda purchases
March 31st, 2009 by Richard Aucock
150 year old dealer giant Hendy Group has added three new Honda dealerships to its portfolio.
Already operating Honda in Exeter, Hendy has added the ex-Alan Day sites in Southampton, Winchester and Portsmouth.
This has secured 80 jobs across the three sites.
The deal is key to the future plans of the motor group, said MD Paul Hendy.
‘The Hendy Group already operates a successful Honda dealership in Exeter and we are delighted to be expanding our Honda operation with three key new sites,’ he said.
Hendy’s been steadily expanding its operations in recent years, and currently has eight Ford dealerships, two Mazda outlets, two Kia franchise operations, Honda in Exeter plus purpose-built truck, bodyshop and parts operations throughout the south and south west.
‘While the motoring industry is facing tough economic conditions, we are continuing to attract buyers who recognise that now is a great time to secure tremendous value for money,’ said Hendy.
‘We are totally focused on offering our customers the very highest levels of service and some great deals.’
The Honda franchises will be integrated into Hendy immediately, a move that was welcomed by the Southampton and Fareham Chamber of Commerce.
Director General Capt Jimmy Chestnutt said: ‘The Hendy Group has a long tradition in the south and we are delighted that the company continues to expand its operations locally, safeguarding vital jobs.
‘This level of investment is a real boost to local business confidence.’
