Half of Toyotas fixed

March 17th, 2010 by Richard Aucock

half-of-recall-toyotas-fixed-alreadyTOYOTA has rectified more than half of cars needing attention under the big accelerator pedal recall.

That equates to more than 90,000 cars, and is the result of a massive effort from the firm’s dealers.

It’s even more impressive because the recall has only been running for 4 weeks!

The firm’s 200-plus UK service centres are working as hard as possible to process customers cars fast, to cause the least inconvenience to them. Dealers are putting in extra hours to support the recall, and even cancelling annual leave. It is an inspiring effort from the firm’s retailers.

It is being recognised by customers, too. Surveys show that 96 percent are satisfied with their experience of the recall process.

Miguel Fonseca, Toyota GB MD, said ‘our thanks go to our customers who continue to be supportive and have confidence in the Toyota brand, and to everyone in the Toyota family, from head office to the workshops, who have all worked together to maintain a high level of service quality as we address the challenges of the recall programme.’

Dealers have also now fully completed work on any new Toyotas awaiting delivery. This has helped the firm achieve record February new car sales. The Prius alone doubled sales in February over the previous month…

If you are a Toyota car dealer, what has your experience of the recall campaign been so far?
