Apprentice to manager
March 5th, 2010 by Richard Aucock
HARRATTS Mitsubishi has just appointed a new sales manager who has worked through the ranks at the firm.
Peter Davies joined the firm in 1998, on the Barnsley dealer’s opening day.
Starting out as an apprentice technician, he has now worked up to the post of sales manager 12 years later – to the delight of general manager David Mills.
‘I have had the privilege of working with him for many years and have witnessed his hard work and determination to deliver the very best service to our customers.
‘Although the automotive industry is not well known for its staff retention, Harratts has always bucked that trend and we are proud that Pete has worked up the ranks over his 12 years with us and will now oversee a vital part of our operations.’
Davies is one of 7 Harratts employees who have been with the firm since it opened. His career path has taken him from an apprentice to a fully qualified technician, and from the workshop onto the sales floor. He’s been selling Mitsubishis since 2003.
He will now be responsible for a team of 8 people. How has he got there? ‘Hard work, coupled with excellent training and a fantastic work environment have made this a reality.
‘The dealership is like a family and this is shown by how many of my colleagues have also worked here since its opening day.’
There should be plenty more after him, too. Harratts has just announced a £175k investment in staff training across its dealerships. That will be its largest training programme ever…
