Ford top sales charts
August 8th, 2010 by Richard Aucock
FORD has REGAINED its number one in the UK car sales chart, new figures from the SMMT confirm.
According to figures released last week by the SMMT, Ford topped the July sales chart with 18,442 registrations and totaled 176,792 cars registered this year.
July also showed the company increasing its retail car market share to 12.1 percent, up 1 per cent on July 2009.
The Ford Focus maintained its second place in the sales chart for July, while the Fiesta became July’s best selling car in the retail sector – dealer offers and price realignments are quoted as the reasons.
Nigel Sharp, MD Ford of Britain, said: ‘Ford’s clearer pricing policy, started early in 2010, becomes permanent this month.
This will confirm to our customers that Ford provides the best value, that they will get high-quality and technically advanced features as well as a competitive price’.
As for the commercial market, Ford Transit sales were up in July giving the company a 28.1 per cent share in the commercial vehicle market – up 3.6 percent on 2009.
