Ford launches 76mpg van
FORD is hoping its new 76mpg Fiesta Econetic Van can help it to 25 percent of the small van sector.
The new eco model is now on sale, costing from £11,635.
Emitting a tiny 98g/km of CO2, it’s one of the greenest vans in the world, and will help provide big fuel savings to fleets. There may also be city centre tax breaks in the future, too.
Already a smart-looker, the Econetic changes bring lowered suspension and trick wheels, further adding to the Econetic’s stylish profile.
A UK-built 1.6-litre turbodiesel powers it – and, says Ford CV director Steve Kimber, ‘makes a statement as soon as you see it.
‘We know that whilst professionals are keen to ‘go green’, it’s just as important for them to leave a good impression with their clients. Pulling up in this latest Fiesta Van says it all.
He expects it to help Fiesta Van sales to an even more significant stranglehold of the UK vans market. ‘Overall, I expect we will sell around 2,500 Fiesta Vans a year, aiming to take around 25 per cent of the car-derived market.’
