Ford Fiesta’s ‘best result’

FORD’S all-new Fiesta has just been launched to the BCA used car auction halls – with its baby sibling, the new Ka.
BCA Nottingham handled the sale, which Ford said generated ‘excellent’ results.
15 new Ford Fiestas averaged 85 percent of list – and BCA claimed there were some highlights from the sale:
• Fiesta 1.4 Titanium 3dr: £11,400, 87% list
• Fiesta 1.6 Zetec S: £11,650, 86% list
• Fiesta 1.4 Titanium 5dr: £12,200, 87% list
• Fiesta 1.4 TDCi Zetec: £11,500, 88% list
• Fiesta 1.6 TDCi Econetic: £11,150, 83% list
A 1.2 Ka Style also made £7600, or 88 percent of list.
Jon Wellsman, sales director, Ford of Britain said: ‘The prices we achieved were our best result at a first-time launch action, reflecting the quality and style of the new Fiesta.
‘We were hoping for around 75 percent, and so the results exceeded our expectations, and confirmed that we have a desirable small-car line up.
BCA’s Ford account manager, Alan Gupwell, added: ‘This high profile event marked a very successful launch for new Fiesta and Ka, and in the current economic climate, sends a significant message to the market place about the strength of the Ford brand.’
Wellsman also said the wider economy could have had a part to play in the sale’s success.
‘The used market has changed dramatically over recent months, and I think some customers question leaving money in the bank on low interest, when they can get a new or used car.’
Maybe this is an encouraging glimmer of hope for car dealers to build upon?
